Withers is proud to offer a Two-Way Dual Language program, part of Dallas ISD's nationally recognized Dual Language initiative. In this program, students learn to speak, read, write, listen, and think in both English and Spanish, with instruction provided in both languages throughout the school day. Native English speakers and native Spanish speakers learn side by side, building language skills from one another as well as from their teachers.
The program's goals are twofold: bilingualism, developing strong proficiency in both a student's first language and a second language, and bi-literacy, helping students perform at or above grade level in academic and social settings in both English and Spanish.
Most students enter the Two-Way Dual Language program in Pre-K or Kindergarten and continue building these skills as they progress through elementary school, setting a strong foundation for continued dual language learning in middle and high school.
